Welcome to the Mighty Oaks webpage.

Our core text this term is:

When Elliot wishes upon a star, he doesn't expect a constellation to crash into a dungheap on his family farm.

The star is Virgo. She thinks she's perfect. Elliot doesn't. And together they release Thanatos, evil Daemon of Death ... epic fail.

They need the King of the Gods and his noble steed. Instead, they get a chubby Zeus and his high horse Pegasus.

Are the Gods really ready to save the world? And is the world really ready for the Gods?

    Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday via the school newsletter.

Homework will consist of the following:

    Reading

It is really important that you read with your child at least 5 times a week.

To support your child at home with their reading you could use lots of different questioning techniques. Asking your child to repeat/ summarise what they have read or picking specific events in the book to talk about will help you to understand what they have learnt. You can find lots of example questions to ask your child below.

Book banded reading books will be sent home with each child along with a reading log. Please ensure your child completes a reading review at the end of a book. Pupils should aim to read a variety of genres and text types across the year.

    PE

PE will be on a swimming on a Wednesday. Children should come to school in their PE kit on their PE day.

    Drinks & Snacks

Please ensure that your child brings a drink of water (not fruit drinks or squash) to school each day. This needs to be in a labelled bottle that we can keep in the classroom which can be accessed during the day. Please provide your child piece of fruit for morning break.
