Welcome to the Mighty Oaks webpage.

Our core text this term is:

Budi's plan is simple. He's going to be a star.

Budi's going to play for the greatest team on earth, instead of sweating over each stitch he sews, each football boot he makes.

But one unlucky kick brings Budi's world crashing down. Now he owes the Dragon, the most dangerous man in Jakarta. Soon it isn't only Budi's dreams at stake, but his life.

A story about dreaming big, about hope and heroes, and never letting anything stand in your way.

Homework will be set on a Friday via class emails

Reading

It is really important that you read with your child at least 5 times a week.

To support your child at home with their reading you could use lots of different questioning techniques. Asking your child to repeat/ summarise what they have read or picking specific events in the book to talk about will help you to understand what they have learnt. You can find lots of example questions to ask your child below.

Book banded reading books will be sent home with each child along with a reading log. Please ensure your child completes a reading review at the end of a book. Pupils should aim to read a variety of genres and text types across the year.

PE

PE will be on a Wednesday. Children should come to school in their PE kit on their PE day.

Drinks & Snacks

Please ensure that your child brings a drink of water (not fruit drinks or squash) to school each day. This needs to be in a labelled bottle that we can keep in the classroom which can be accessed during the day. Please provide your child piece of fruit for morning break.
